Brian qualified as a Chartered Accountant in August 1992 and became a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia in March 1996, before completing further studies and qualifying as a Certified Financial Planner in September 2000.

Mark O'Connor

Mark grew up in Tamworth but left shortly after finishing school to commence his accounting career and University studies in the city.

He began as a trainee accountant with a large general public practice firm in Newcastle and studied part time whilst working in order to attain his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1992.

Moving to Sydney, he then joined medium sized and larger practices in senior roles and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1995.  As a result of his time in the city, he has a broad range of skills and experience.

Shortly after the birth of their second son in 2003, Mark and his wife Anne made a major lifestyle decision to leave Sydney and relocate their family back to Tamworth.  Anne is also originally from here, so moving back home was a logical move.  Since that time they have not looked back and now have three young boys.  As a result of their positive relocation back to the bush, both are passionate supporters of the continuing "tree change" revolution.

With an expertise in small and medium sized business advisory, business and personal tax and accounting, Mark prides himself on being able to really listen to clients needs so as to provide them with practical and sound solutions.

Mark is a past Vice President & Director of the Tamworth & District Chamber of Commerce and Industry and he works with clients from a wide and diverse range of industries & professions.  From his base in Tamworth, he advises many clients in Sydney, around the state, and overseas.

Margaret van Aanholt

Margaret completed her Bachelor of Economics at Australian National University and commenced working with the Sydney office of Pannell Kerr Forster in 1981 in its audit division.

Admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1984, Margaret also worked in the audit division of Pannell Kerr Forster's offices in London in 1986. During her time with Pannell Kerr Forster, Margaret worked on a wide variety of audits and was the audit manager responsible for the News Limited audit in 1986.

Margaret decided to move to Tamworth in 1987 and worked as audit manager for the KPMG office in Tamworth and later as audit manager for Forsyths, a prominent audit firm in the region. She decided to commence her own business in 1996 and in 1997 merged with Ted Barton to form Barton van Aanholt.

With Margaret being a registered company auditor, Barton van Aanholt developed a diverse group of audit clients which continued to grow as does their reputation for providing  professional audit services.
